Dates are essentially sodium-free and contain approximately 700 mg of potassium which provides 25% of the daily amount. Potassium lowers blood pressure by helping to push sodium out of the body and reduce tension in blood vessels. The American Heart Association recommends that people eat more potassium-rich foods such as dates for heart health. Dates are rich in fiber and heart health is guaranteed by consuming this fruit. Dates contain 6 gr of fiber which provides more than 30% of your daily nutritional value.

An ounce of date provides healthy nutrients for the heart along with vitamin B6. It is said that vitamin B6 removes the homocysteine amino acid from the blood because it is associated with the onset of cardiovascular disease. According to nutrition experts, daily consumption of 100 gr of dates provides 20% of the daily potassium needs of each person. A study also found that women who consume 3200 mg of potassium daily were 21% less likely to have a heart attack. Studies have recently shown that daily consumption of dates prevents hardening of the arteries, which prevents heart attacks. Hardening of the arteries appears due to high cholesterol, and daily consumption of 100 gr of dates for four weeks lowers triglycerides in the body by 15% and oxidizes fat by 33%, and all of these occur without increasing blood sugar.
